Gwangdeoksa (Temple) in Gwangdeok-myeon is the greatest walnut production site in Korea, with more than half of the total national production coming from this area. It is also the place where
walnut trees were first planted in Korea. The walnut tree at Gwangdeoksa is over 400 years old. It stands 18.2m high. It splits into two approximately 60cm above the ground. The circumference of
each main branch is 2.62m and 2.50m. 3m in front of the walnut tree is a stone monument stating the legend of the tree and the story of how Yu Cheongsin came to plant the walnut tree.
