Cheonan-si

Seonghwan Melons: Seonghwan melons have a unique look and scent and a subtle taste. They have a high water content, and you get the feeling that it's melting in your mouth when you eat one. The melons relieve fatigue and accelerate the body's metabolism. They are particularly good for people with diabetes.

Ipjang·Seonggeo Grapes: Grapes produced in the vast hilly plains centering around Wiryeseong, Baekje's first capital, are large, sweet and full of various nutrients. The grapes are good for digestion and relieving fatigue.
In this area, 43% of national grape is produced and the area is Korea's greatest grape production site.

Byeongcheon Sundae: The Byeongcheon-myeon area has been famous for sundae for about 50 years. Since a pork and ham plant was established nearby, the people have developed a type of sundae made with vegetables and ox-blood instead of japchae. People enjoyed the taste of that sundae, so the area has become famous for it.

Cheonan Singo Pears: Cheonan pears are cultivated in an optimal environment. The pears are soft and cool because of their high water content. The pears are sweet and recognized for their excellent quality. Cheonan pears are good for improving urination functions, quenching thirst, and relieving hangovers.

Melons: Cheonan Susin melons are cultivated in yellow soil. They are sweet and high in quality. Demand for these melons is increasing every year, so production areas are extending. The main types cultivated here are the Baekseol Melon, the Net Melon, and the Papaya Melon. Their unique scent and taste will arouse your appetite. The melons have a lot of calcium, vitamins, and minerals and are helpful in controlling the salt density of the body.

Walnuts: Gwangdeoksa (Temple) in Gwangdeok-myeon is the greatest walnut production site in Korea, with more than half of the total national production coming from this area. It is also the place where walnut trees were first planted in Korea. The walnut tree at Gwangdeoksa is over 400 years old. It stands 18.2m high. It splits into two approximately 60cm above the ground. The circumference of each main branch is 2.62m and 2.50m. 3m in front of the walnut tree is a stone monument stating the legend of the tree and the story of how Yu Cheongsin came to plant the walnut tree.

Walnut Cookies: Cho Gwigeum acquired his baking skills in Japan in 1934 and was the first person to develop walnut cookies. Walnut cookies are now a specialty product of the Cheonan area.
