The April 1st Independence Movement, led by Yu Gwansun, is reenacted at the Aunae Marketplace. The torch demonstration will be held from Aunae Market place through downtown Byeongcheon to Yu Gwansun Memorial. - [ Aunae Marketplace Independence Movement ]
- This movement was led by Yu Gwansun. It began with the lighting of 24 beacons at Mt. Maebongsan and other mountains on March 31, 1919.
- The next day, 4,000 people gathered at Aunae Marketplace and protested for independence.
- 19 people were shot on the spot, and dozens of people were injured.
- It is a representative independence movement in the Chungcheong-do area.
